ARCHOS started as an application software developer and systems trainer for the Retail Industry. In December, 1993, ARCHOS was appointed by Cash Register Sales, Inc. of U.S.A., as the exclusive distributor of Esper and CRS Cash Register Systems in the Philippines. Cash Register Sales, Inc., being the exclusive distributor of Samsung Cash Register in North America, likewise extended to ARCHOS its marketing rights of Samsung Cash Registers in the Philippines. Esper and CRS Cash Registers are the product offerings of ARCHOS for small to medium-sized retail establishments that requires simple store applications and small barcode scanning systems with PC connectivity. It has been providing consultancy services in retail applications since the third quarter of 1993 prior to its formal operations February 1, 1994. The company then expanded its services offering to include Preventive Maintenance coverage for Point-of-Sale (POS) / Electronic Cash Register (ECR) and other office equipment.
